BSL TEACHING ASSISTANT - PRESTON
Do you hold a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 qualification or above?
Vida Education is recruiting a BSL Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist Deaf Support provision at a 'Good' secondary school in Preston.
The successful candidate will support Deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in mainstream lessons and specialist settings, helping them access learning, communicate effectively and develop their confidence and independence.
THE ROLE
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
- Use BSL and Sign-Supported English to support communication.
- Help pupils access lessons and adapt learning resources where required.
- Support pupils with hearing aids and assistive technology.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEND team.
- Support pupils with EHCP targets and monitor progress.
ESSENTIAL
- BSL Level 2 or above.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, supportive and confident approach.
Experience supporting Deaf or hearing-impaired young people or working within a school/SEND setting would be advantageous.
