VIDA bioenergy is a leading biomethane developer and operator active in the UK, Netherlands and Poland. We have operational plants in the Netherlands and UK, with further projects under development and in build. Biomethane is a key technology in the transition to net zero. It is an established and proven low carbon technology with thousands of facilities globally, taking manures, agricultural and industrial wastes and by-products and using bacteria to convert this into biomethane and an organic fertiliser.
As the Glentham Plant Manager you will be responsible for the operations and maintenance for the VIDA bioenergy Glentham biomethane plant in Lincolnshire. Reporting to the UK General Manager, you will have safety, operations and engineering responsibility for the site where you will be based. As we expand and construct more sites you may occasionally be required to provide operational cover to other sites (travel and expenses paid).
This is VIDA's first biomethane plant in the UK and part of an ambitious desire to build a portfolio of biomethane plants. Someone from an operations or engineering background and with leadership, first line management or supervisory experience in a highly regulated industry is required. The successful candidate will also be capable of self-starting, using their initiative and being hands on. The role will have the site team reporting into it and has overall responsibility for meeting the production targets of the plant.
What are your responsibilities?
- Safely run the Glentham site
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of Glentham site
- Coach and develop the local site operations team
- Manage holidays and plant operations cover
- Comply with all relevant legislation
- Create and maintain a culture of compliance, excellence and efficiency at Glentham and other sites
- Working with peers across the UK and Europe to share best practices
- Managing relationships with key maintenance service providers
- Work with sub-contractors who provide some asset management support
- Manage on-site staff, supporting, empowering, inspiring and challenging them to perform at their best
- Ensuring Glentham is performing to and exceeding the business case
- Assisting with the planning and preparation for major overhauls and maintenance events
- Supporting the development and project teams providing operational input into the design and build process
What we’re looking for
- Proactive approach to safety and compliance, ensuring that good safety management improves operational performance
- An experienced leader with lead, first line management or supervisory experience from an operational or engineering role in a highly regulated industry
- Demonstrable experience of working in a highly regulated industry, prioritising safety, environmental and compliant behaviour and culture
- Proven skills in managing and motivating teams
- Able to work independently, taking pride and ownership of the site
- Able to work collaboratively with the development and project teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction into operation
- Able to work collaboratively with the broader RNG management team, sharing best practice and willing to take on as well as share ideas and practices
