A well-established and highly regarded law firm with multiple UK and international offices is seeking a Private Client Tax Accountant to support the needs of its expanding private client practice. The firm has received recognition as one of the best companies to work for and holds a longstanding accreditation for excellence in people management.
This role will be based in the firm’s Hertfordshire office, with opportunities for hybrid working from the London office and potential longer-term relocation to the overseas office in Spain.
The successful candidate will take a supervisory role within the tax team, working alongside solicitors and partners in the Wills and Probate department. The team advises high-net-worth individuals, family trusts, and estates, and the position will also involve contributing to the development of tax-related services in connection with property and family matters.
Key responsibilities include:- Providing tax advice to private clients, trustees, and executors on income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax, including guidance on efficient tax strategies
- Preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, trusts, and estates; familiarity with Iris software is preferred
- Contributing to the development and growth of tax services offered by the team
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation relevant to private client, property, and family work
- Preparing trust accounts using spreadsheets, with a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping to trial balance
- Preparing estate accounts using bespoke software
- Producing internal and external tax resources and guidance materials
Applicants should hold a CTA, STEP, ACA, or ACCA qualification, with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience in private client tax. Experience involving family law tax matters and/or cross-border private client tax is advantageous. A strong focus on client service, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
