Our client, an international law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate / Junior Counsel with approximately 6 years PQE to join their Dispute Resolution team. The role involves overseeing the preparation and conduct of various proceedings in courts and tribunals, including insolvency matters. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide advice on disputes, potential disputes, enforcement of rights and obligations, and the interpretation of legal documents and legislation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on litigation and insolvency matters, in line with internal policies and procedures.
- Represent the Group in court, with other law firms, government bodies, and relevant professionals.
- Develop a deep understanding of each client’s business and communicate this within the team.
- Take instructions from advocates or clients, draft legal instruments, and collaborate with other practice groups as needed.
- Manage caseloads effectively.
- Stay updated on relevant local and international law affecting clients.
- Draft skeleton arguments and submissions.
- Contribute to Knowledge Management for civil litigation and insolvency.
- Review documents from other lawyers and provide feedback.
- Oversee the terms of new engagements and exercise due diligence.
- Lead or assist in creating precedent documents for the Group.
- Mentor junior lawyers as required.
- Participate in marketing and training initiatives.
- Manage client billing and address outstanding debts in line with internal policies.
- Capture business intelligence and manage client contact details.
- Oversee file management from opening to closure, ensuring proper archive procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- 5-10 years PQE.
- Qualified Lawyer with strong academic qualifications.
- Knowledge of litigation procedures and laws relevant to the specialisation.
- Experience in large commercial litigation or insolvency, with leadership in key aspects and smaller cases with minimal supervision.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Proven productivity and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
- Competent IT skills and proficiency with office software.
- Ability to handle matters with discretion and confidentiality.
