We’re now looking for an Assistant Group Accountant to join our Group Finance team, playing a key role in delivering accurate, timely and high‑quality financial reporting.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll contribute to the delivery of robust Group reporting and support key financial cycles across the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the month‑end close process, including balance sheet reconciliations, posting central journals and maintaining ledgers
  • Producing accurate inputs for internal reports such as fixed assets, inventory reporting, Board packs and committee papers
  • Helping to ensure the accuracy and integrity of Group accounting, maintaining compliance and safeguarding the business
  • Working closely with regional finance teams to ensure consistency of approach and sharing best practice
  • Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline month‑end and finance processes
  • Maintaining the Group authority matrix and coordinating updates as required

You’ll also support wider Group activities, including:

  • Half‑year and year‑end external reporting, audit coordination and investor materials
  • Budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting activities in line with Group reporting standards
  • Financial performance management, supporting cost centre owners with analysis and constructive challenge

Depending on experience, the role may also cover areas such as VAT and Intrastat returns, capital accounting, inventory and cost of sales reconciliation, intercompany accounting and support with corporation tax calculations.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys working collaboratively and can communicate financial information clearly.

You’ll Bring

  • Experience of month‑end accounting processes and financial reporting
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting or reforecasting
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with ERP and BI systems
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
  • A proactive, organised approach with attention to detail

Qualifications

  • AAT (or equivalent demonstrable experience) – essential
  • Studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) – essential
  • Membership of a relevant professional finance body – essential
