The role involves leading and delivering technical improvement projects that reduce product variability, optimise manufacturing processes and support the successful transition of products from development into routine production. You’ll act as a key technical partner to manufacturing, quality and development teams, using structured problem‑solving and continuous improvement methodologies to drive measurable results.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and advice in response to changing plant performance and customer requirements.
  • Apply process improvement and problem‑solving methodologies to ensure sustainable implementation of improvements.
  • Analyze quality data trends, identify compliance gaps and drive targeted improvement actions.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting activities and contribute to capability development and training within manufacturing teams.
  • Support the transfer of new products and equipment from development into manufacturing operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in site quality control activities, including reduction in customer complaints and audit findings.
  • Provide technical input to customer complaint investigations and non‑conformance management.
  • Lead plant experimental programmes in line with management of change requirements.
  • Act as the manufacturing link into new product development programmes.
About you:

You’ll bring strong technical expertise, a structured improvement mindset and the confidence to influence at all levels of the organisation. You’ll be comfortable working in a data‑driven manufacturing environment and enjoy taking ownership of complex improvement challenges.

You’ll typically have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Materials Science or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Significant industrial experience delivering technical solutions to improve quality, capability and manufacturing cost.
  • Practical experience of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma or similar); Green Belt is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience using data to drive decisions.
  • Experience working within a formal Quality Management System.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, control plans, regulatory compliance and product testing methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • A proven track record of delivering sustainable improvements and cost savings through technical projects.
