We’re now looking for a SHE Manager to lead safety performance at our Rotherham site, ensuring we maintain our licence to operate while continuing to drive a culture of excellence.
About the role
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring full SHE compliance, including COMAH and environmental permitting, while shaping the site’s long‑term safety strategy. You’ll act as the site’s SHE expert and leader, influencing at all levels—from shop floor to senior leadership—and acting as the key point of contact with external regulators.
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintaining the site’s ‘licence to operate’, ensuring compliance with COMAH, environmental permits and SHE legislation
- Acting as main point of contact for external regulators and auditors (e.g., HSE and EA)
- Leading and developing the site SHE team, including coaching and capability development
- Driving continuous improvement across process safety, occupational safety, health & wellbeing, and environmental performance
- Managing and delivering the SHE Improvement Plan and compliance activities
- Leading incident investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and sharing lessons learned
- Overseeing risk assessments, audits and emergency planning
- Influencing and coaching leaders to embed a strong safety culture and accountability
- Supporting wider group SHE strategy and projects
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a confident and credible SHE leader who can operate effectively in a high‑hazard, regulated environment, combining technical expertise with strong leadership and influencing skills.
Essential qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Safety & Health Management
- Environmental management qualification (e.g., IEMA or equivalent)
- Upper tier COMAH experience
- Extensive SHE management experience
Desirable qualifications:
- Degree in engineering or science
- Chartered or professional membership (e.g., CMIOSH, PIEMA)
