Seeking a Senior Advocate to lead in complex criminal and family violence cases and deliver high-quality legal services in the Wimmera region. Full-time ongoing position (part-time applications considered). Salary range: $98,902 - $123,624 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging. Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model.
About the role
As a Senior Advocate, you will deliver high-quality legal services in complex criminal law cases and family violence intervention matters. Your responsibilities will include court advocacy, duty lawyer services, and comprehensive casework. You will also play an important role in supervising, training, and mentoring junior lawyers, contributing to their professional growth and the overall success of our team. This role is based at our Horsham office on Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadiali, Wergaia and Jupagalk Country.
About you
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
- Demonstrated experience as an advocate and caseworker in complex criminal and family violence matters.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and develop junior lawyers fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients from disadvantaged backgrounds, staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing a substantial caseload effectively.
