Seeking a skilled Senior Lawyer to manage daily operations, deliver expert legal services, and mentor staff in the Wimmera region. Full time ongoing position (part-time applications considered). Salary range: $111,263 - $123,624 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging. Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model.
In this newly created role, you will manage a team of legal professionals in the Horsham office, delivering high-quality legal services in family, criminal, and civil law. You will oversee day-to-day operations, provide expert legal advocacy, and focus on mentoring and developing your team. You will also play a key role in shaping our strategic direction and representing Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) in the community. This role is based at our Horsham office on Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagalk Country.
About you
- Proven ability to manage, supervise, mentor, motivate, and develop a team of legal professionals.
- Extensive experience in criminal or family law with demonstrated experience to manage complex legal matters effectively.
- High level interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
- Ability to identify and address regional legal and policy issues in alignment with organisational strategies.
- A collaborative approach to working with others, fostering a supportive and cooperative team environment.
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
