Role overview: The Atelier Assistant & Sample Cutter supports the cutting, preparation and execution of prototypes and samples within the Atelier. The role combines technical sample cutting with operational Atelier support, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and consistency across all development stages.
Responsibilities:
- Sample Cutting & Fabric Preparation
- Cut prototypes and development samples with accuracy and precision
- Ensure correct grain, placement and fabric alignment
- Match complex prints, jacquards and directional fabrics
- Prepare fabrics prior to cutting (steaming, checking, organising)
- Identify and flag any fabric or technical issues before cutting
- Support fabric testing (shrinkage, fusing, interlining, heat testing)
- Technical Support
- Produce lay plans for prints, jacquards and complex fabrics
- Document cutting layouts with photographic and technical annotations
- Support Sample Machinists with technical clarification when required
- Apply feedback from fittings and development meetings
- Atelier Support
- Assist in daily organisation of samples, fabrics and trims
- Support preparation of garments for fittings and meetings
- Maintain organisation of Atelier workspace and workflow systems
- Support sample tracking updates and documentation
- Flag low stock or material shortages to relevant teams
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sample Machinists, Atelier Coordinator and Atelier Manager
- Support communication between Atelier, Design and Product Development teams
- Attend development meetings when required
- Assist in implementing technical feedback into sample execution

- Experience in sample cutting or garment production
- Strong understanding of garment construction
- Ability to work with complex fabrics (prints, jacquards, delicate materials)
