The V&A Museum is seeking a Utilities Officer to support effective energy management and help drive operational efficiency. You’ll analyse energy and utilities data, provide clear insights, and identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs across the Museum’s estate.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely with utilities suppliers, internal and external partners, the Energy Officer will ensure accurate tracking and monitoring of energy use, deliver insightful reporting, and translate data into practical actions that reduce consumption, improve efficiency, and support long-term energy strategy.
  • The role is varied and offers the chance to combine analytical skills with problem-solving and project delivery, from validating utility invoices and managing metering systems to leading energy reduction initiatives.
  • The Energy Officer will report into the Senior Estate Manager (Energy & Technical) but will also work closely with other Estate Managers and V&A colleagues from other disciplines.

Who are we looking for?

  • Strong data capability: You will be able to collect, validate, interpret, and present complex data sets, using them to inform decisions and highlight risks, opportunities, and performance trends.
  • Financial management experience: You will have experience managing budgets, tracking expenditure, and overseeing financial processes such as invoicing, cash-flow, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Relevant qualifications or sector experience: Qualifications or experience in a related field - such as utilities, facilities management, or energy management - are highly desirable.
  • Advanced data and systems capability: Significant experience using software platforms or data management systems to collect, organise, and analyse data.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Technical familiarity with building and metering systems: An understanding of building management systems (BMS), metering platforms, or other specialist operational software.
