We’re looking for a dynamic and ambitious Print Manager to join our team.

About the V&A

The V&A Print team provides high quality print and installation, specialising primarily in environmental display graphics and signage for our four London venues. Working closely with colleagues, the team creates everything from gallery labels and large print guides to temporary displays, wayfinding signage and more for all galleries, exhibitions, displays, programmes, spaces and venues.

What we’re looking for

An effective Print Manager with proven experience running print and installation within a commercial printer or equivalent environment to lead the in‑house print team, delivering display graphics, finishing and installation at our four London museum venues. The ideal person will be someone who can both manage the overall running of the print service, book and plan the team print and install schedule; provide advice and options for print production and install to designers; ensure exacting standards of quality and finish; improve environmental standards. This person will balance time between running the print team and liaising with clients alongside day‑to‑day work printing and installing as part of the small team.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Directly manage and develop team members

Essential to the role:

  • Extensive proven experience running an environmental print service/team gained in a commercial printer or similar environment
  • Experience managing job traffic and bookings for both print and install
  • Experience managing production and client schedules across multiple complex projects simultaneously to optimise machine use, booking installs and manage conflicting deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of RIP print set‑ups, large format latex printers and other print equipment
  • Working knowledge of a range of print production and finishing – HP latex, vinyl cutter, laser essential with dry transfer, screen and DTM
  • Extensive experience of finish and install in a comprehensive range of media and locations/environments (interior and exterior)
  • Experience leading a small team and with track record of having fostered an environment of teamwork, and continuous improvement systems and processes for print production and management
  • Experience of procurement of print equipment and supplies, experience of managing print equipment supply, repair and maintenance
  • Decent working knowledge of latest version of Adobe CC – in particular InDesign

Desirable for the role:

  • Experience in the museum or cultural sector
  • Setting up and improving internal systems for teams
  • Evidence of research and development of new methods of production
  • Experience using laser cutters or flatbed cutters desirable
