The Role
This is an exciting time to join the V&A Technology team as we move through a period of significant transformation to our service offerings, technology stack and process developments. Our technology supports a broad range of Museum activities across multiple sites. As well as our core Microsoft infrastructure which enables most of our activity, you will be working across our network infrastructure to ensure continual improvement and monitoring in a secure manner to enable the museum to operate to our physical and digital audiences
As part of the wider V&A Technology team, you will be working with a group of enthusiastic professionals in a number of capabilities including Service Operations, Product Management, Project Management, Enterprise Architecture and Service Management. The role offers the chance to help shape our service offerings to be more robust and making best use of the latest technology.
What will you be doing?
- Proactively manage the IT Infrastructure estate which includes assisting with planning future upgrades of systems to ensure compliance with V&A Cyber Security practices, applying updates in line with manufacturers recommendations across all systems,
- Working with the V&A Programme Management Team and Application Support Team to deliver new systems/solutions and working with 3rd party management companies that provide services to the V&A.
- Proactively monitor the V&A Network and work with suppliers to ensure robust and stable network provision across all sites. Confident configuration management capability to ensure CMDB is kept up to date and supplier engagement to ensure incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner and brining different suppliers together to resolve issues with minimal business impact.
- Day to day service desk queue management of infrastructure related tickets, resolution of Infrastructure related tickets in a timely and efficient manner in line with Business requirements, employing appropriate application maintenance, support and incident management processes and procedures to support and maintain V&A IT infrastructure (i.e. investigate and resolve IT infrastructure-related incidents),
- Undertake IT infrastructure-related problem diagnosis, implementation of problem resolution or prevention measures as appropriate, maintain IT infrastructure support technical documentation, and participate in disaster recovery activities as required.
- Work with the Change Managers to review new business requirements, contribute to technical aspects of key change documentation such as business requirements. Ensure IT infrastructure changes meet the agreed service acceptance criteria.
- Undertake knowledge management activities, ensure that all activities are performed at a consistently high standard with minimal risk to the V&A, ensure that opportunities to improve services and processes are identified and actioned and carry out ad hoc duties as requested by appropriate managers within your department.
Who are we looking for?
β’ Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of a Microsoft infrastructure covering Active Directory (Group Policies, DNS/DHCP etc.), Azure and Azure Networking, VPN Gateway. Network security groups, routing tables and private endpoints, Windows server technologies, Windows desktop technologies, Office 365 and VMware technologies including SRM. In addition, knowledge and understanding of MECM/Intune, Linux, storage, and network technologies (including firewall management and hybrid cloud networking) is desirable.
β’ In addition, knowledge and understanding of MECM / Intune , Net Apps, Linux, Cloud based storage solutions and monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds or PRTG. Patching cycles. MFA / SSO Integration and network segmentation. Proven experience performing a similar role and managing hybrid infrastructure environments, including tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Cost Management.
β’ Strong knowledge of WAN/LAN Fundamentals, network protocols, networking configurations, set up and maintenance across total network technology stack, switch management, Wireless, Firewalls and fibre technology to validate proposals, identify misconfigurations and escalate with suppliers accordingly.
β’ Good understanding of ITIL service management processes. Ability to manage and optimize cloud resources effectively while maintaining cost controls.
β’ Proven experience performing a similar role.
β’ Skilled in IT problem diagnosis and resolution.
β’ Customer focused and goal orientated with keen attention to detail.
β’ Experience of operating with a high level of autonomy and the ability to manage input from others to ensure delivery to agreed timescales.
β’ Strong sense of ownership and ability to follow tasks through to completion.
