The V&A is looking to recruit a Financial Reporting Accountant. This role is responsible for delivering key internal and external reporting on a timely and accurate basis along with responsibility for maintaining and developing the short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts. You will also be responsible for accounting for publishing sales and stock management from a financial reporting perspective.
You will be an exam qualified accountant, with the ability to present complex financial information, to both a financial and a non-financial audience. You will also be able to understand financial processes and underlying principles including data structures within an accounting package. Experience of communicating clearly, with the ability to adapt your communication style for different groups is also key.
What will you be doing?
- Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models and reporting suite, ensuring effective knowledge sharing across the Finance team.
- Collaborate with Technology to ensure regular deliverables are met in a timely manner. Work to deliver short- and medium-term improvements in line with organisational strategy and departmental objectives.
- Own the preparation and continuous improvement of the monthly finance pack, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timely delivery.
- Lead month-end processes, including departmental meetings, reconciliations, and production of a high-quality month-end file.
- Produce and review key financial returns (e.g. GiA) and ensure completeness and integrity of financial data and reporting dimensions.
- Support the Financial Reporting Manager with the completion of the year end consolidation return (C-Pack) for DCMSSupport FP&A with report generation through building and maintaining data structures which underpin the reporting.
- Develop and maintain short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts, supporting investment planning and decision-making.
- Partner with project and finance teams to model capital cash flow requirements and enhance forecasting capability.
- Deliver financial accounting for publishing sales and stock, including journal processing, reconciliations, and inventory close.
- Support statutory reporting, including preparation of financial statements, audit activities, supplier payments review, and ad-hoc reporting.
What we are looking for:
- Ability to present complex financial information, simply, in reports and presentations to both a financial and a non-financial audience.
- Ability to understand financial processes and underlying principles including data structures within an accounting package.
- Experience of communicating clearly, with the ability to adapt your communication style for different groups.
- Experience of using a finance system (preferably Microsoft Business Central), MS Office, Power BI and other relevant IT systems to an advanced level.
- Strong organisational and time management skills; with excellent attention to detail.
