We are seeking an experienced Financial Lines/Commercial Underwriter to join the Underwriting team at Victor. This role can be based in Bristol, Leeds, Witham or London and expects a presence in the Bristol office once per month; remaining time is flexible for hybrid working.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and implement underwriting strategy for all products within the established risk appetite.
- Directly contribute towards financial KPIs, balancing revenue achievement with underwriting profitability.
- Deliver Victor service levels on all authorised products.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, guidelines and working practices.
- Spot distribution trends and report on broker behaviours.
- Manage quality and peer review requirements to identify areas for underwriting and product improvement.
- Act within underwriting authority.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant class/product specialisms.
- Keep pace with market trends and developments for authorised industry segments.
- Build strong relationships with broking and capacity partners.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Good understanding of the financial lines insurance market.
- At least 2 years of financial lines underwriting experience.
- Experience holding underwriting authority for the chosen class of business.
- Knowledge of the in-scope product and trade range.
- Experience working in teams and a record of delivering results.
- Progress toward a CII qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
