Victim Support Scotland (VSS) provides support and information to people affected by crime and campaigns for victim and witness rights. Our services are free, confidential, and tailored to individuals' needs. Our vision is that people affected by crime – victims, witnesses, and their families – are treated with dignity and respect and are at the heart of justice in Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Support Coordinator (Armed Forces). 14hpw permanent + 21hpw 2-Years Fixed-Term contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for ensuring that VSS's local service development and delivery plan is implemented within your geographical area(s).
  • Manage a team of skilled and knowledgeable volunteers, planning their deployment to ensure the service delivered meets the desired outcomes for victims and witnesses.
  • Oversee all aspects of volunteer engagement at your services, including recruitment, induction, learning and development, ongoing performance management and support.
  • Contribute to business planning and coordination, ensuring continuous learning to monitor that service user outcomes are being met.
  • Lead with experience from similar roles, motivate others, build trust, drive performance, and work with data gathering, analysis, and presenting insights to inform decisions.
  • Promote fairness and inclusion and challenge discrimination, bias, or stereotyping when it is observed.
  • Focus on supporting people from Armed Forces communities affected by domestic abuse, providing tailored one-to-one support in partnership with Scottish Women’s Aid.
  • Hold a full clean driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience from a similar role and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to motivate others, build trust, and drive performance.
  • Comfort with data gathering, analysing, and presenting insights to shape decisions.
  • Commitment to fairness and inclusion, with the confidence to challenge discrimination, bias, or stereotyping.
  • Solid understanding of the voluntary and charity sector and willingness to travel as required.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • PVG check required (satisfactory check).

Salary and location:

  • Salary band: £27,598 - £36,445. Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to review in line with VSS progression arrangements.
  • Primary location: 40 Union Terrace, Aberdeen AB10 1NP. You will be expected to cover throughout North-East of Scotland locality.
