We are looking for an experienced and organised Container Traffic Operator to join our busy operations team based in Grays, Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated transport professional with strong container logistics knowledge and port experience.

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating container transport operations across the UK, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient vehicle utilisation, and smooth day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate must have previous experience working with:

  • DP World London Gateway
  • Southampton Port
  • Felixstowe Port

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and routing container movements efficiently
  • Liaising with drivers, customers, ports, and shipping lines
  • Booking port collections and deliveries
  • Monitoring vehicle and driver performance
  • Managing delays, issues, and customer updates proactively
  • Ensuring compliance with transport regulations and company procedures
  • Working closely with the operations team to maintain service levels
  • Handling container paperwork and transport documentation accurately

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Container Traffic Operator or similar transport planning role
  • Strong working knowledge of DP World London Gateway, Southampton, and Felixstowe port systems and procedures
  • Good understanding of container haulage operations
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced transport environment
  • Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of VBS systems and port booking platforms
  • Experience dealing with shipping lines and container logistics customers
  • CPC knowledge advantageous but not essential
