The Lead Production Technician reports directly to the Production Manager. The incumbent leads the production build process by performing assembly, testing, kitting, and diagnosing mechanical faults in electro‑mechanical products, while coordinating the build crew and managing manufacturing order progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising a team of Electro‑Mechanical Assemblers, assigning and delegating tasks, and ensuring the team meets its goals.
  • Liaising with the Planner to convert build plan to Manufacturing Orders.
  • Actively participating in the following disciplines, balancing hands‑on work with supervisory duties to ensure deadlines are met:
  • Assemble electro‑mechanical assemblies with reference to assembly drawings, assembly instructions, bills of materials.
  • Perform programming, set‑up and testing of built units (including any necessary optical alignment cameras).
  • Diagnose mechanical faults in camera sub‑assemblies to component level and manage the repair/replacement.
  • Kitting and supervising the kitting of Manufacturing Orders to the shop floor (including transacting stock via NetSuite).
  • Liaise with test engineers regarding progression of Manufacturing Orders through to completion.
  • Assist the Stock Controller with stock take and stock organisation/location.
  • Liaise with the Production Manager/Planner and test engineers for RMAs and progression of RMA returns through repair or to stock.
  • In conjunction with Engineering, Design Engineer, Realisation Engineer and Production Manager:
    • Assist with ongoing improvement of current products by feeding back observations from the current build.
    • Assist in risk prevention/design improvement by actively feeding back observations from prototypes/current builds.
  • Participate in training activities for flexible working.
  • Work to a high standard of quality.
  • Work safely for themselves and others.
  • Use correct documentation.
  • Participate in Quality Control, Waste Minimisation or other improvement activities.
  • Must be able to work without supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work as a member of a focused team.
  • Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
    • Leadership experience in teams of people.
    • Experience using ERP Systems (e.g. NetSuite).
    • Self‑motivated and able to work on own initiative.
    • Enthusiastic and committed to the goals of the company.
    • Meticulous with a good eye for detail.
