Role Summary: Reporting to the FD Smart Manufacturing Division you will be a key member of the finance team charged with the production of management reporting, forecasts and budget, along with being a senior within operational finance. The role is based in Barnwood Gloucester with some ad hoc travel to other facilities such as IVS Harwell Oxford and Group Head office in Yarnton Oxford.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting
- Deliver timely and accurate management accounts including key commentary on variances to budget, prior year and forecast.
- Develop analysis on the performance of the business across various financial and non-financial KPIs.
- Prepare and process revenue deferrals and accruals in line with IFRS15.
- Prepare and process lease movements under IFRS16.
- Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts for the division built on key drivers for the business.
- Prepare financial modelling, including sensitivity analysis.
- Ensure delegation of authority is adhered to and authority workflows are set up correctly.
- Oversee the payment run process, including first approval in the bank.
- Manage credit control process including credit limits, debt chase process and legal proceedings.
- Due to being a small team there will be a need from time to time to support in processing purchase invoices and daily banking.
- Support with optimisation of business systems including ERP, finance software, and integrated tools.
- Ensure data integrity, automation, and process improvement initiatives are delivered to support growth.
- Ensure adherence to financial controls, statutory requirements, tax compliance, and audit readiness.
- Manage the stock take process from a financial point of view.
- Support in controls around Fixed asset register including physical verifications.
- Supporting the annual plc audit process by providing evidence and dealing with auditor queries.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to the finance team and contribute to the culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with broad experience across operational finance, Management accounts and FP&A.
- Experience with IFRS15 revenue recognition and project accounting.
- Technical skills in IFRS and UK GAAP and UK tax legislation.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and financial software platforms (e.g., Business Central, Power BI, Dynamics).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across levels and geographies.
- Desirable: Exposure to Business Central and Power BI.
