Vickerstock are proud to be partnering with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council to recruit a Business Support Officer. As a Business Support Officer, you will provide a comprehensive and flexible administrative service, working across a range of Council functions and departments. This role involves implementing and maintaining business support standards while delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders Key Responsibilities: Deliver confidential business support and administrative coverage across departments within the Business Support Service as needed. Process and record applications, system transactions, and queries in compliance with approved operating procedures. Offer excellent customer service, including reception duties and effective collaboration with council departments, external agencies, and members of the public. Manage data and document systems, including filing, archiving, data retrieval, research, accuracy verification, and transfer of data to external agencies as required by statutory or service-level agreements. Essential Criteria: Qualifications: Grade C or above in at least 4 GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications, including: English Language and a numerate subject or equivalent OR In lieu of formal qualifications: 24 months’ relevant work experience (details below). Work Experience: At least 12 months’ experience in the following areas: Customer service (working with internal and/or external customers). Administrative duties, including typing letters, reports, and filing. In lieu of qualifications, 24 months’ experience in the same areas is acceptable. Other Requirements: A full current driving license and access to transport, or the ability to meet the post’s travel requirements through alternative means.
