Vickerstock are working in partnership with a fast growing manufacturing business on the appointment of a Supply Chain Manager. This is an ideal position for you if you are aiming for that next step upwards in your career. Applicants with procurement, warehouse, or logistics background in manufacturing are preferred.
As the Supply Chain Manager, you will lead the supply chain function, overseeing all aspects of procurement, logistics, and inventory management. In this role, you will be responsible for optimising supply chain performance and fostering strong supplier relationships. Your leadership will be critical to ensuring the efficient, cost-effective flow of materials, supporting production schedules, and meeting customer demand.
- Salary: Up to £42,000
- Hours: 37 per week
In your new role:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify reliable suppliers, negotiate favourable contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials at competitive prices.
- Monitor performance and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Optimise inventory levels to balance supply and demand, reducing holding costs while avoiding stock outs. Establish and maintain robust inventory control systems and procedures.
- Oversee the efficient, cost-effective movement of goods from suppliers to warehouses and from warehouses to customers.
- Manage transportation partners and optimise delivery routes.
- Collaborate with sales and production teams to develop accurate demand forecasts and align supply plans with business needs.
- Drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Assess and implement new technologies and systems to enhance supply chain visibility and performance.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the supply chain budget, ensuring effective cost control and resource allocation.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards relating to procurement, logistics, and safety.
- Prepare and present regular reports on key supply chain metrics, including inventory levels, supplier performance, and logistics costs.
Essential Criteria:
- 3 year\’s recent experience in a senior supply chain position
- Negotiation experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing business
- Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier and group meetings
Desirable Criteria:
- Related degree or third-level qualification
- Experience in a \”lean\” manufacturing environment
