Vickerstock are currently working with an ambitious and growing food trading business seeking an experienced Meat/Ingredients Trader to build and run their own trading desk across UK and international markets.
This unique opportunity will suit a commercially driven trader who already has an established customer and supplier network and is looking for greater autonomy, flexibility, and earning potential. Unlike many trading environments, this role offers genuine freedom to leverage your own relationships, develop new markets, and directly benefit from the value you create.

Your day-to-day:
- You will take ownership of your own trading desk, managing supplier and customer relationships while identifying profitable opportunities across meat, protein and food ingredient markets.
- With dedicated support from finance, logistics and operations teams, you will be able to focus on growing profitable business and expanding your network.
- Develop and manage your own trading desk
- Trade across UK and international markets
- Utilise existing supplier and customer relationships
- Source products domestically and internationally
- Negotiate effectively to protect and maximise margins
- Identify new market opportunities and growth areas
- Build long-term customer and supplier partnerships
What success will look like in the first instance:
- Begin trading immediately using your existing network
- Generate margin-positive volume within the first 2-3 months
- Demonstrate consistent profitability and trading activity
- Expand into new customers, suppliers or territories
And will be measured through:
- Gross margin generated
- Consistency of trading performance
- Relationship growth and retention
- Network expansion and business development activity
Your essential ingredients:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience within meat, protein or food ingredients trading
- An established customer and supplier network
- Strong commercial acumen and margin management capability
- Experience sourcing products both domestically and internationally
- Knowledge of food safety, traceability and industry regulations
- A reputation for reliability, credibility and strong follow-through
- Comfortable operating independently and taking ownership of your results.
