Vickerstock Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a growing Civil, Environmental and Architectural practice to support the appointment of a Senior Environmental Engineer to join their established and highly respected environmental team. This is a key hire for the business and has been designed as a bridge between Director level and the wider technical team. The successful candidate will play a central role in running projects, supporting junior staff, and acting as a trusted technical interface for clients and regulators. The focus of the role is on contaminated land and waste projects, with particular emphasis on applications, licensing and permitting.

Your new role as Senior Environmental Engineer:

  • Leading and managing contaminated land and waste projects from inception to completion.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports, applications and supporting documentation.
  • Managing waste and environmental licensing, permitting and regulatory submissions.
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for clients, regulators and key stakeholders.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and scientists.
  • Supporting Directors with workload management, project oversight and client development.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially and to a high technical standard.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • A degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience working on contaminated land and/or waste projects.
  • Proven capability in licensing, permitting and regulatory applications.
  • Experience managing projects and interacting directly with clients and regulators.
  • The confidence to take ownership of workstreams and lead technical delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
