Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Process Technician. Working as part of a small manufacturing team, you will take ownership of the methods, systems and equipment used within an injection moulding facility. You will be responsible for setting, operating and troubleshooting injection moulding machinery, resolving technical issues and supporting efficient production across the night shift.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Process Technician with strong injection moulding experience looking to join a growing manufacturing business with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
In your new role:
- Set up, operate and troubleshoot injection moulding machines and associated auxiliary equipment
- Carry out mould, insert and colour changes independently, ensuring machines are prepared correctly for production
- Complete hopper loader and dryer start-up procedures, alongside stop, pull-back and purge procedures
- Independently diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues, escalating more complex faults where required
- Manage materials, components and consumables throughout the shift, ensuring production areas are supplied efficiently
- Monitor stock levels, replenish materials and accurately record usage, including weights, batch numbers and relevant production data
- Complete first-off inspections and quality documentation, ensuring products meet required standards
- Produce accurate production records and reports using relevant IT and ERP systems
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce scrap and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to support continuous improvement across production processes
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment across the production area
- Ensure machinery, equipment and associated areas are maintained to the required standards
- Act as the main technical point of contact during the night shift, providing guidance and support to production operatives
- Support operative breaks and provide technical assistance to ensure uninterrupted production
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and quality standards at all times
- Support the wider production team in achieving agreed schedules and performance targets
What you will need to succeed:
- Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience operating, setting and troubleshooting injection moulding machines within a manufacturing environment
- Experience setting up and maintaining injection moulding auxiliary equipment
- Proven experience overseeing production processes and equipment within a manufacturing environment
- Experience carrying out mould, insert and colour changes without supervision
- Experience handling materials and components and ensuring timely supply to production areas
- Proven experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Relevant engineering or technical qualification, such as HNC/HND, or equivalent time-served industry experience
- Valid forklift licence
- Strong IT skills with the ability to accurately complete production records and reports
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
