Vickerstock are proud to be working in partnership with an established and forward-thinking food manufacturing and packaging business in Portadown to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a growing business that has invested in modern production facilities, automation and robotics.

With a strong focus on continuous improvement and a low staff turnover, this is an opportunity to join a stable engineering team in a varied, hands-on maintenance role, working across both traditional and automated production equipment.

The Role

As Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the company's production and packaging facilities.

Working as part of a small, experienced engineering team, you will maintain a range of equipment including conveyors, robotics, PLC-controlled machinery and automated production lines.

The business operates both chilled and ambient production facilities, offering a varied engineering environment with opportunities to get involved in machinery improvements and ongoing investment projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production and packaging machinery.

  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery, automated equipment and conveyor systems.

  • Work with robotics and automated production equipment to ensure machinery operates efficiently.

  • Identify recurring faults and implement improvements to increase equipment reliability.

  • Support machinery installations, upgrades and modifications.

  • Work closely with production colleagues to ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facilities.

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing or production environment.

  • A recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification, or relevant time-served experience.

  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.

  • Experience maintaining and repairing production machinery.

  • A good understanding of planned preventative maintenance.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small engineering team.

  • A proactive approach to fault finding, problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Experience working with PLCs, robotics, conveyors or automated production equipment would be particularly advantageous.

What's on Offer

  • Salary of £35,000 - £40,000, depending on experience.

  • Day shift.

  • 8.5-hour shifts with start times of 6am, 8am or 10am.

  • Opportunity to work with modern machinery, robotics and automated production systems.

  • Established business with low staff turnover.

  • Small, experienced and supportive engineering team.

  • Modern manufacturing facilities with ongoing investment in equipment and technology.

This position would suit a Maintenance Engineer who enjoys a hands-on role, wants to work with modern manufacturing equipment and is looking for a day-shift opportunity without the requirement to work nights.

All conversations will be treated in the strictest confidence.
