Company and Role of Technical Support Engineer
Vickerstock are recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer on behalf of a successful engineering and manufacturing business within County Tyrone. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Engineer with experience across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and dealing directly with customers.
Working within an experienced Engineering team, you will provide technical support across a range of complex machinery and equipment, helping customers and service personnel diagnose technical problems and identify effective engineering solutions. The role offers an excellent mixture of technical support, engineering problem solving and practical involvement with machinery, while also giving you the opportunity to feed real-world product issues and customer feedback directly back into Engineering and Product Development.
Key Responsibilities for this Technical Support Engineer position
- Provide technical support to customers and service personnel
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
- Provide remote technical assistance and develop effective solutions to equipment issues
- Interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to support fault diagnosis
- Investigate recurring technical issues and help identify root causes
- Work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to resolve product-related issues
- Feed customer and field experience back into Engineering to support product improvements
- Support the development of technical procedures, information and training materials
- Provide technical guidance on the operation, maintenance and repair of machinery
- Maintain accurate records of technical issues and engineering solutions
- Support new and existing products from a technical perspective
- Provide technical training and guidance where required
- Occasionally travel to customer locations to assist with more complex technical issues and provide hands-on support
Essential Criteria for this Technical Support Engineer position
- Previous experience within Technical Support, Field Service, Maintenance, Product Support or another hands-on Engineering position
- Strong practical understanding of mechanical systems
- Good electrical and hydraulic fault-finding capability
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with machinery, equipment or another complex engineered product
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
- A recognised Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic or similar Engineering qualification
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider Engineering team
- Previous experience within heavy machinery, mobile equipment, agricultural machinery, construction equipment or another related engineering environment would be particularly relevant.
This position would particularly suit a Technical Support Engineer, Product Support Engineer or experienced Field Service Engineer who wants to retain the technical problem-solving and customer-facing aspects of field service while reducing the amount of time spent travelling.
