Company and Role:
Vickerstock are recruiting for a Head of Quality on behalf of a major engineering and manufacturing organisation in Northern Ireland. This is a significant senior leadership appointment with responsibility for the overall direction, performance and continued development of Quality across a substantial manufacturing operation. The successful individual will have the authority and senior-level exposure to influence how Quality operates across the organisation, developing the people, systems and culture required to deliver consistently high standards of manufacturing performance.
This is not simply a Quality Systems position. We are looking for a commercially aware Quality leader who is comfortable operating at senior management level while remaining sufficiently close to manufacturing to understand problems, challenge performance and drive meaningful improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for Quality across the organisation
- Lead, develop and strengthen the Quality function and its people
- Develop and continually improve the overall Quality strategy
- Ensure effective Quality Management Systems and controls are maintained across the business
- Drive improvements in product, process and manufacturing quality
- Develop a culture of quality ownership and accountability throughout the organisation
- Use quality performance data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
- Lead the resolution of significant quality and customer issues
- Ensure effective root cause and corrective action processes are embedded across the business
- Oversee internal, external and customer quality audits
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and senior leadership
- Support new product and business activity from a Quality perspective
- Develop strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement and change across Quality and wider operational processes
Essential Criteria:
- Significant senior-level Quality experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Previous responsibility for leading and developing a Quality function
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and manufacturing quality
- Proven experience improving quality performance within a complex manufacturing environment
- Strong people leadership and team development capability
- Experience with quality audits, compliance, root cause analysis and corrective action
- Strong customer and supplier management experience
- Ability to influence at senior management level and drive change across an organisation
- Strong commercial awareness alongside technical Quality expertise
- A degree or professional qualification within Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related discipline would be advantageous, although significant relevant leadership experience will also be considered.
We are particularly interested in speaking with existing Heads of Quality, Quality Directors, Senior Quality Managers and Quality Engineering Managers who have the leadership capability and ambition to take responsibility for a significant Quality function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality professional seeking a genuine senior leadership appointment, a top-level executive package and the opportunity to have a significant influence on the performance and future development of a major manufacturing organisation.
To apply for this position, please submit your CV or contact Hugh Nugent at Vickerstock for a confidential discussion. All approaches will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
