Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing manufacturing business to recruit a Materials & Stores Controller. The successful candidate will take ownership of material availability, stock accuracy, tooling control and asset management, ensuring projects are fully supported from receipt of goods through to final delivery.
The Role
- Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring materials, components and equipment are available when required, helping to minimise delays and maintain operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the receipt, inspection and allocation of materials to support project and production schedules.
- Managing material availability across multiple live projects, ensuring clear visibility of readiness and identifying potential shortages before they impact delivery.
- Maintaining accurate stock records and inventory data through regular stock checks and cycle counts.
- Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies while ensuring strong inventory control processes are maintained.
- Controlling the issue, return and reallocation of materials to maximise stock utilisation and minimise waste.
- Monitoring inventory levels and supporting replenishment activities for operationally critical materials.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to communicate material risks, shortages or delivery concerns.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing material flow, inventory accuracy and operational performance.
- Managing company tooling and equipment records, ensuring servicing, maintenance and certification requirements remain compliant.
- Supporting warehouse operations by maintaining a safe, organised and efficient working environment.
- Assisting with the movement of materials and occasional operational support activities as required.
What You'll Need
- Previous experience in materials control, inventory management, stores, warehouse coordination or a similar operational role.
- Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
- Ability to work across multiple priorities within a project-led environment.
- Good understanding of material traceability, stock accuracy and inventory systems.
- Strong organisational skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Competent IT skills with experience using ERP, MRP or inventory management systems.
- Forklift license is desirable (you will occasionally operate a forklift).
