Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturer to recruit a Material Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and collaborative manufacturing environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely supply of raw materials and packaging to support production requirements. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders across multiple sites to maintain continuity of supply and optimise inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with external suppliers and internal sites to ensure materials and packaging are delivered on time to meet production schedules.
- Use SAP to plan and place purchase orders, manage order dates, and maintain appropriate safety stock levels.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date master data.
- Proactively manage shelf life by monitoring expiry dates and minimising write-offs through supplier extensions or redistribution to other sites.
- Monitor and report inventory levels to the Supply Chain Manager, highlighting risk products where demand has reduced.
- Identify and resolve supply issues, escalating risks promptly to the Supply Planner or Scheduler to minimise production downtime.
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries in a timely manner.
About you
- Degree-level qualification preferred.
- 18 months recent manufacturing experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience working with ERP systems within a manufacturing environment; SAP experience is advantageous.
- Strong Excel skills and a high level of attention to detail.
