Mechanical Design Engineer

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading specialist MEP contractor on the appointment of a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Dundalk.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growing engineering business delivering complex, large-scale MEP and building services solutions across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

The Opportunity

Working as part of an experienced Design team, you will be responsible for developing mechanical design solutions for major projects, with a particular focus on chilled water systems, plantrooms and prefabricated MEP solutions.

You will work closely with wider design, BIM and project teams to develop coordinated, technically robust solutions from initial design through to manufacture and installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical building services systems, including chilled water pipework and associated plant.
  • Develop solutions incorporating chillers, pumps, heat exchangers and other mechanical equipment.
  • Carry out relevant mechanical design calculations, including flow, pressure loss and system sizing.
  • Produce and review mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with BIM, electrical and project teams to ensure fully coordinated MEP designs.
  • Support projects through design, manufacture and installation, resolving technical queries as required.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with Mechanical Design Engineers with experience within building services, MEP or mechanical engineering.

You will ideally have:

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Previous mechanical design experience within an engineering or construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water and mechanical building services systems.
  • Experience producing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit or similar design software would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
