Mechanical Design EngineerOmagh, Northern IrelandMechanical Design Engineer - Material Handling Full time, permanent - Mon to Fri Business hours with an early finish on Fridays Flexible Working Options Available After Probation HN12089On OfferCompetitive salary 35,000 - 47,000 depending on experienceUp to 5% annual bonusFlexible working options with 1 day working from home available after probationHealth care / insurance supportLife assurancePension contributionCycle to work schemeEmployee discount perks schemeGym membership discountsCareer progression and development opportunitiesWork within a globally recognised engineering and manufacturing organisationModern manufacturing and engineering environmentThe Company - Mechanical Design EngineerOur client is a large, internationally recognised manufacturing engineering business with a strong reputation for delivering heavy equipment and material handling solutions across global industrial sectors.Due to continued growth and ongoing investment across their Northern Ireland operations, they are seeking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to support product development, engineering improvements, and ongoing equipment enhancement projects within their material handling division.The business offers a highly collaborative engineering environment with strong long-term stability, continued investment, and genuine career progression opportunities.The Role - Mechanical Design EngineerReporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will support product development and engineering improvement activities across a range of mobile and heavy engineering equipment.The role will involve working closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, service, and operational teams to support product enhancements, cost reduction initiatives, engineering change activities, and technical problem-solving.This opportunity would suit an engineer with previous design experience within manufacturing, heavy engineering, mobile equipment, machinery, or OEM environments who enjoys both product improvement and practical engineering problem-solving activities.Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Design EngineerSupport product improvement and engineering enhancement projectsLead product improvement and cost reduction initiativesSupport engineering design activities from concept through to productionCreate and maintain engineering drawings and technical documentationManage engineering changes in line with company proceduresSupport technical problem-solving activities across engineering and productionAssist with product support and technical queriesWork closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to support operational efficiencySupport safety improvement activities across product linesCollaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering and operationsEssential Criteria - Mechanical Design EngineerDegree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related disciplineMinimum 3 years' experience within equipment design and manufacturing environmentsExperience with mechanical design and engineering documentationStrong CAD experience with 3D design packages such as SolidWorks or similarAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical standardsUnderstanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication and weldingGood communication, organisational, and problem-solving skillsStrong IT skills including Microsoft Office packagesDesirable Criteria - Mechanical Design EngineerExperience working with mobile equipment or heavy machineryKnowledge of hydraulic systems and related componentsExperience using FEA analysis toolsUnderstanding of ERP or PDM/PLM systemsExposure to electrical or control systems within machinery environmentsPlease Note: Sponsorship is not available for this role.
