Our client, a leading food manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team at their abattoir facility in Co. Tipperary. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled engineer to join a well-established organisation and play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of the site's machinery and equipment.

The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimising downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise production downtime.
  • Perform inspections and routine maintenance on plant and machinery.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and maintenance of new equipment.
  • Identify recurring mechanical issues and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Work closely with the wider engineering and production teams.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes and other industrial machinery would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Strong commitment to health & safety.
  • Previous experience within the food manufacturing or abattoir industry would be beneficial but is not essential.
