Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day purchasing of materials, components, and services in line with production demands and customer orders, using Sage 50.
- Maintain consistent supply by managing supplier schedules, call-offs, and long lead-time items.
- Monitor stock levels of consumables, carrying out regular reviews to prevent shortages.
- Process purchase requisitions accurately, ensuring all approvals are in place and orders are delivered on time.
- Track and manage consumable spend in line with budget expectations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve purchasing efficiency.
- Assist in negotiating supplier agreements and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues in line with ISO 9001 standards.
- Generate reports on supplier performance, stock shortages, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Build knowledge of company products, components, and services.
- Stay informed on market trends, including pricing and inflation impacts.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure smooth communication and operations.
- Manage and resolve supplier non-conformances.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with quality standards and internal procedures.
- Follow company health & safety guidelines and maintain a clean working environment.
Criteria
- Essential
- Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within manufacturing.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage data accurately.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Experience using Sage 50.
- Relevant qualification in supply chain, business, engineering, or similar (e.g. degree or NVQ Level 4).
- Understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001.
- Full, clean driving licence.
