Vickerstock are working in partnership with an engineering firm on the appointment of a Health & Safety Advisor. As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for creating, enforcing, and managing health and safety policies to protect all team members. Collaborating with different departments, you will evaluate risks, carry out safety audits, and lead initiatives to improve workplace safety throughout the organisation.
In your new role:
- Develop and review safe systems of work, identifying hazards and delivering training
- Conduct risk assessments and implement effective risk controls
- Carry out regular workplace and equipment inspections, reporting on safety improvements
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Record and analyse incidents, producing reports and statistics for management
- Investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Lead health and safety training sessions for managers and team members
- Promote a strong safety culture through team engagement and consultation
- Assist with internal and external safety audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Monitor Health and Safety performance, analysing key data to drive continuous improvement
What you will need to succeed:
- 3+ years' experience within a similar Health & Safety role
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
- Experience with ISO standards and auditing
- Good communication skills
- IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
- Full driving license
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Experience within the Engineering, Manufacturing or Construction industries
- IOSH Membership
- NEBOSH Diploma
- Train the Trainer certifications
