In this role you will act as the primary SHEQ contact across the Group, steering the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and driving compliance. You will provide practical advice to management, employees and contractors while leading audits, incident investigations and supplier/contractor compliance. You will perform site inspections, develop RAMS and safe systems of work, and promote continuous improvement and awareness across the business. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on safety, quality and environmental performance.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for SHEQ across Group operations
- Maintain and continually improve the Integrated Management System aligned with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
- Provide practical SHEQ advice to management, employees, contractors and stakeholders
- Conduct workplace and site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- Develop and review RAMS and safe systems of work
- Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations with root cause analysis
- Coordinate internal audits and support external certification and customer audits
- Monitor SHEQ legislation and industry standards to ensure compliance
- Deliver SHEQ inductions, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives
- Coordinate training requirements and health surveillance
- Manage contractor and subcontractor compliance including PQQs and competency records
- Monitor SHEQ KPIs and performance trends; report to senior management
- Maintain accurate SHEQ documentation and records to support compliance and certification
- Promote a proactive culture of Health Safety, Quality, Environmental responsibility and continuous improvement
Key requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised Health Safety qualification
- 3+ years experience in a SHEQ, Health Safety, Quality or Compliance role
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of SHEQ responsibilities
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Strong knowledge of Health Safety legislation and practical compliance requirements
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, internal audits and incident investigations
- Experience developing and reviewing RAMS and safe systems of work
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between Group and customer locations when required
