Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing business on the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day Health & Safety activities across the site, ensuring standards are maintained and continuously improved. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys engaging with teams, influencing behaviours, and making a tangible impact on workplace safety.
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and workplace inspections to identify and control hazards Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing effective corrective actions Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, reports, and documentation Develop and coordinate Health & Safety training programmes and maintain training matrices Support emergency preparedness activities, including fire safety and first aid arrangements Review and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and communication across all levels Monitor PPE compliance and ensure appropriate safety equipment is available Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Health & Safety performance Work closely with operational teams to ensure safe working practices are embedded throughout the business What you'll need to succeed: NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification Experience within a similar Health & Safety role Experience carrying out audits, inspections, and incident investigations Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Proactive approach with the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't): Experience within manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics environments Previous involvement in developing training programmes Experience supporting emergency preparedness and fire safety activities Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and behavioural safety principles For a more detailed brief and a confidential conversation on how Vickerstock can help support you with your next move, get in touch with Sam Geddis, our Health & Safety Specialist, today.
