Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Mechanical Engineer.

Working as part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will provide hands-on mechanical support, diagnose faults and contribute to continuous improvement across the site. This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served Mechanical Engineer looking to join an established manufacturing business with a strong focus on reliability, safety and production performance.

In your new role:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production equipment and machinery
  • Complete hands-on mechanical repairs, welding and fabrication as required
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults to minimise production downtime
  • Work with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Re-engineer and modify equipment to improve reliability, efficiency and performance
  • Provide technical support and advice to production teams
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in line with company procedures
  • Respond effectively to breakdowns and prioritise repairs based on production requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with Health & Safety requirements
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Engineering and Production teams to maintain high levels of plant availability
  • Take ownership of maintenance issues and use strong problem-solving skills to identify effective solutions

What you will need to succeed:

  • Time-served Mechanical Engineer with relevant industrial experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven problem-solving ability
  • Experience carrying out mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong experience in welding and fabrication
  • Experience working with mechanical drive systems
  • Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and fault-finding techniques
  • Ability to make confident decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
