Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Manager. This is a senior leadership role, offering the opportunity to drive health, safety, and wellbeing across a busy production environment while shaping a strong, proactive safety culture. This is a key position for an experienced HSE professional who wants to make a meaningful impact across site performance and culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, develop, and continuously improve the site Health & Safety Management System in line with ISO45001 and legislative requirements.
- Manage incident and accident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
- Monitor and report on HSE KPIs, driving performance improvement plans across the site.
- Ensure risk assessments are completed, reviewed, and embedded into safe systems of work.
- Lead internal audit programmes and prepare for external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Oversee contractor management, including pre-qualification, onboarding, and safe systems such as permit-to-work and LOTO.
- Act as the main point of contact for regulatory bodies and coordinate site inspections and follow-up actions.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans, ensuring drills and response procedures are effective.
- Provide day-to-day operational HSE support, partnering with key stakeholders across the business.
- Support training delivery, promote engagement, and embed a positive safety culture across all teams.
What you will need to succeed:
- 5+ years' experience in a Health & Safety management role within manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and a relevant third-level qualification.
- Strong working knowledge of UK and NI Health & Safety legislation.
- Proven experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent).
- Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards.
- Experience within the food manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge of SMETA or ethical trading standards.
