Dundonald Full-Time No working from home possible
Vickerstock

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing civil engineering organisation to recruit a Payroll Specialist.

The Payroll Specialist is a key role within the finance and operations function, where you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll activities across NI/GB and international operations. Reporting to senior management, you will lead the payroll team, ensure full compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements, and drive accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement across payroll processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of a multi-jurisdiction payroll function within a dynamic and expanding business operating across the UK and Ireland.

In your new role:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team to ensure high performance and accuracy
  • Manage NI/GB and international payrolls, including review and sign-off processes
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, statutory payments, and payroll legislation
  • Oversee payroll processes relating to employee benefits, expenses, and pension contributions
  • Manage payroll file preparation, amendments, and executive payroll requirements where applicable
  • Maintain and improve payroll systems, controls, and processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll reporting and submissions
  • Support risk management and compliance across all payroll activities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll operations across the business

What you will need to succeed:

  • Proven experience within a payroll team
  • Strong technical knowledge of NI/GB payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes, including benefits and pensions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong IT skills and experience with payroll systems
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational ability

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience of international payrolls
  • Background in construction, engineering, or multi-site environments
  • Experience working within both industry and practice settings
