The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the procurement function, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, plant, and subcontract services to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement of construction materials, plant, and services, ensuring alignment with project specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.
- Evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and secure commercially advantageous agreements in line with internal procurement policies.
- Coordinate with operational and commercial teams to ensure procurement activities support project cost plans and delivery programmes.
- Plan and forecast material requirements, identifying long‑lead or business‑critical items and mitigating potential supply risks.
- Track market conditions, pricing trends, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and improved sustainability.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and key stakeholders across the supply chain.
- Source and assess new suppliers to enhance supply chain capability, ensuring compliance with internal approval and governance procedures.
- Monitor supplier performance, maintaining accurate records relating to quality, reliability, and service delivery.
- Support the continuous improvement of procurement processes, ensuring adherence to quality, environmental, and health & safety management systems.
- What you will need to succeed
- Previous experience in a buying or procurement role within the construction industry.
- Strong negotiation and commercial awareness.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office packages.
