The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in the procurement function, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, plant, and subcontract services to support project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement of construction materials, plant, and services, ensuring alignment with project specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and secure commercially advantageous agreements in line with internal procurement policies.
  • Coordinate with operational and commercial teams to ensure procurement activities support project cost plans and delivery programmes.
  • Plan and forecast material requirements, identifying long‑lead or business‑critical items and mitigating potential supply risks.
  • Track market conditions, pricing trends, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and improved sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and key stakeholders across the supply chain.
  • Source and assess new suppliers to enhance supply chain capability, ensuring compliance with internal approval and governance procedures.
  • Monitor supplier performance, maintaining accurate records relating to quality, reliability, and service delivery.
  • Support the continuous improvement of procurement processes, ensuring adherence to quality, environmental, and health & safety management systems.
  • What you will need to succeed
  • Previous experience in a buying or procurement role within the construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office packages.
