Our client, a leading Irish food manufacturing group supplying major retail and foodservice customers across Ireland and the UK, is seeking an experienced Group Engineering & Facilities Manager to join their senior operations leadership team. Reporting directly to the Group Operations Director, this is a high-impact role responsible for leading engineering, maintenance, facilities, utilities and infrastructure across multiple manufacturing sites.
This position offers the opportunity to drive asset reliability, operational performance, compliance, CAPEX delivery and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, high-care food production environment.
The Opportunity
As Group Engineering & Facilities Manager, you will take ownership of the engineering and site services strategy across the business, ensuring production assets, utilities and facilities operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with food safety, health & safety and statutory requirements. You will play a key role in supporting business growth through infrastructure development, operational excellence and long-term asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering, maintenance, facilities and utilities activities across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Drive asset reliability and production uptime through robust maintenance and engineering strategies.
- Develop and enhance planned preventative maintenance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee critical utilities including refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, compressed air, electrical systems and water treatment.
- Lead CAPEX projects including factory upgrades, production line installations and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, retailer standards, environmental and health & safety requirements.
- Manage engineering contractors, suppliers and service providers across the Group.
- Deliver energy reduction, sustainability and utilities optimisation projects.
- Manage engineering, facilities and CAPEX budgets.
- Support customer, retailer and regulatory audits.
- Develop business continuity plans for critical plant and utilities infrastructure.
Candidate Profile
We are interested in speaking with engineering leaders who have a strong background within food manufacturing, FMCG or other highly regulated production environments. You will have:
- 7+ years' experience in engineering, maintenance or facilities leadership.
- Previous experience within chilled food, fresh food or high-care manufacturing environments.
- Multi-site engineering or facilities management experience.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance systems, asset reliability and engineering best practice.
- Experience managing utilities, contractors and capital projects.
- Strong understanding of BRCGS, HACCP and food manufacturing compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership, stakeholder management and budget control capability.
Qualifications
Degree, HND/HNC or recognised trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services or Engineering discipline. IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent qualification desirable. Project Management qualification advantageous.
