Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing machinery manufacturer on the appointment of a Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist at their County Down site on a full-time permanent basis. You will be responsible for procurement, logistics coordination, inventory control, and direct customer interaction for parts sales and invoicing ensuring availability to support both production and aftermarket service in a fast-paced, uptime-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure raw materials, fabricated parts, mechanical and electrical components, and associated services to support production and NPI activities.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure high standards of quality, delivery performance, cost competitiveness and service.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to support bill of materials (BOM) accuracy, material selection and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor supplier performance through agreed KPIs, implementing improvement plans where required.
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the stores function, maintaining a hands-on approach to stock management and material flow.
  • Receive, inspect and accurately book in goods, ensuring all deliveries meet required quality and specification standards.
  • Manage the storage and control of high-value, critical and bulky inventory, ensuring materials are handled and stored appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels of fast-moving and business-critical spare parts to support operational requirements.
  • Work closely with Production, Service and Planning teams to ensure material requirements are met efficiently and on time.
  • Arrange and manage outbound shipments to customers, service engineers and project locations.
  • Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve delivery issues to minimise delays.
  • Ensure all transport and shipping documentation is completed accurately and maintained in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through the ERP/MRP system, ensuring data integrity at all times.
  • Record and track all stock movements, including receipts, issues, transfers and returns.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to inventory management, including min/max controls, stock optimisation and process efficiency.

Criteria

  • 2 years' recent experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Additional experience in stores, inventory or stock management is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing components and processes, including fabricated parts, mechanical assemblies, hydraulics or electronic controls.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams and external suppliers.
