Company and Role
Vickerstock are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business within the County Down / County Armagh area. This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a strong multidisciplinary Engineering team and take responsibility for the development and continued improvement of electrical systems for complex manufactured products. You will work closely with Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines, taking electrical designs from initial requirements through detailed design and ultimately into manufacture. The position offers an excellent combination of electrical design, new product development and practical engineering problem solving, with the opportunity to see your designs progress through the complete product development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for complex engineered products
- Produce electrical schematics, drawings and associated technical documentation
- Develop electrical designs from initial requirements through to production-ready solutions
- Specify and select electrical components and equipment
- Develop and improve existing electrical designs to support product and engineering improvements
- Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers to ensure effective integration of electrical and mechanical systems
- Provide technical support during the manufacture and introduction of new designs
- Investigate electrical design and production-related engineering issues
- Support prototype development, testing and validation activities
- Participate in engineering design reviews
- Ensure designs meet appropriate technical, safety and quality requirements
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and support design changes throughout the product lifecycle
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience within Electrical Design Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering position
- Experience working with electrical systems within an engineering, manufacturing or product development environment
- Ability to produce and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Good understanding of electrical components and practical electrical engineering
- Experience using engineering design / CAD software
- Strong technical problem-solving ability
- Ability to work effectively with Mechanical, Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines
- A third-level qualification within Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or another relatable Engineering discipline
- Experience within machinery, equipment, automated systems or another complex manufacturing environment would be particularly relevant, although experienced Electrical Design Engineers from other engineering sectors will also be considered.
