Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing engineering and project-based organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Officer. This organisation is seeking a highly organised and practical Health & Safety Officer to support operational teams, customer projects, and wider business compliance activities. This is a varied position offering a mix of office, workshop, and site-based responsibilities, where you will work closely with leadership and operational teams to ensure Health & Safety remains embedded into day-to-day business activities.

You will be responsible for driving improvements across Health & Safety systems, coordinating compliance activities, developing RAMS and safe systems of work, and supporting teams across multiple locations and projects.

In your new role:

  • Lead and support Health & Safety activities across office, workshop, and project/site locations
  • Act as the main point of contact for Health & Safety matters, providing practical advice and guidance to operational teams
  • Develop, review, and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures, RAMS, and safe systems of work
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out effectively
  • Coordinate Health & Safety training, maintaining training records, matrices, and competency requirements across the business
  • Support customer projects and attend sites as required to oversee safe execution of works
  • Ensure compliance with UK/EU legislation, client requirements, and internal company standards
  • Plan and support emergency preparedness activities including fire drills, inspections, and servicing schedules
  • Support incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Work closely with operations and management teams to drive continuous improvement and promote a practical safety culture
  • Prepare clear Health & Safety reports and communicate key risks, actions, and improvements to leadership teams

What you will need to succeed:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification)
  • Previous experience implementing and maintaining Health & Safety systems within operational or project-based environments
  • Strong experience developing RAMS and safety documentation
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicating and working closely with operational and site-based teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Full willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Degree qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related discipline
  • Additional specialist Health & Safety qualifications or certifications
  • Experience conducting Health & Safety audits and inspections
  • Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, or construction environments
  • Experience supporting training programmes or competency management systems
