Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading engineering and fabrication business on the appointment of a Health & Safety Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to join a growing organisation operating across the engineering, manufacturing, and construction sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and enhancing the company's safety culture, ensuring compliance across multiple sites, and driving continuous improvement in Health & Safety performance throughout the business.

As Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with operational teams, site management, and contractors to implement best practice, support ongoing compliance, and provide expert guidance on all aspects of Health & Safety management.

In your new role:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Health & Safety policies, procedures, and management systems across the business
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring activities across manufacturing and construction environments
  • Support and monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance, ensuring safe systems of work are maintained
  • Develop and review risk assessments, method statements, and control measures to effectively manage workplace hazards
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
  • Prepare monthly HSE reports, performance dashboards, and safety communications for management teams
  • Support internal audit programmes and coordinate preparations for external audits and ISO accreditation requirements
  • Monitor HSE performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational areas
  • Deliver Health & Safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes to employees and management teams
  • Provide specialist guidance on areas including COSHH, fire safety, occupational health, machinery safety, and risk management
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through effective engagement with employees, contractors, and stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 5+ years' experience within a senior Health & Safety role, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, construction, or a related sector
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments
  • Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor qualification
  • Train the Trainer certifications such as Manual Handling or Abrasive Wheels
  • Previous experience supporting both manufacturing and construction operations
  • Experience preparing organisations for external audits and accreditation processes
