Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading environmental and sustainability-focused organisation on the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will gain exposure to a wide range of HSE activities while helping to drive compliance, continuous improvement, and a positive safety culture across multiple sites. This is a hands-on operational role suited to someone who enjoys being visible on site, engaging with teams, and making a real impact on workplace safety.

You will support day-to-day Health & Safety activities across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with legislation, company standards, and best practice while contributing to the ongoing development of HSE systems and processes.

In your new role:

  • Support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Lead and coordinate internal Health & Safety audits, inspections, and behavioural safety initiatives
  • Develop and review risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe systems of work
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and Health & Safety training to employees and contractors
  • Work closely with operational teams and management to promote a positive safety culture
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across Health & Safety systems, processes, and site standards
  • Support external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities
  • Manage Health & Safety onboarding and induction processes for new starters and contractors
  • Maintain training records and competency matrices across operational teams
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of integrated management systems
  • Monitor compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures across multiple sites

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Experience within a similar Health & Safety role
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Understanding of Health & Safety compliance and risk management principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience within recycling, manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environments
  • Additional Health & Safety qualifications
  • Experience delivering training, toolbox talks, and inductions
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and behavioural safety initiatives
