Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing business based in Ballymena area to recruit an Assistant Technical Manager to join their established technical team. As the successful candidate you will lead the Quality Assurance team on site, ensure that daily routines delivered by the team comply with all relevant Manufacturing Standards, legislation and customer requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the practical application of the site's Quality Management systems.
  • Accountable for the quality assurance and compliance functions of the site meeting company, legislative, customer and 3rd party accreditation body standards.
  • Coaching of operations, engineering and QA teams to drive food safety culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the site, continually pushing the food safety and quality standards.
  • Ensuring that complaints, internal non-conformances and audit related non-conformances are completed in a timely, yet thorough manner.
  • Deputise for the Technical Manager in their absence.

Qualifications required:

  • Formal qualification in food science / food technology or related subject, minimum HNC, ideally degree level.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing requirements in line with BRC and retailer COPs.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety in a chilled manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of microbiology.
  • Minimum Level 3 Food Safety and HACCP qualifications.
