Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading UK bus manufacturer to recruit an Aftermarket Service Engineering Manager to join their growing Aftermarket Division. Our client is at the forefront of the transition to zero-emission public transport, developing and manufacturing electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles as part of a greener future for public transport.

Your Day to Day:

As Aftermarket Service Engineering Manager, you will lead and coordinate all proactive rework activities across customer vehicle fleets, ensuring campaigns are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively and to the highest quality standards. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role, acting as the key link between Customers, Engineering, Service, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality and third-party partners. Rework activity can range from safety-critical and functional issues through to quality improvements and lower-priority enhancements. You will assess requirements, develop delivery plans, manage resources and ensure vehicles are returned to customers as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will lead and develop a team of four, creating a positive, respectful and accountable environment while maintaining high standards of performance and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate proactive vehicle rework and retrofit campaigns.
  • Assess campaign scope, risk, cost, resources and timescales.
  • Translate technical engineering documentation into practical field implementation.
  • Lead, support and develop a team of four.
  • Coordinate Service Engineers, contractors and third-party partners.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality and 3rd Party Partners.
  • Manage campaign budgets, materials, stock and subcontractor costs.
  • Monitor campaign progress and drive activity through to completion.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and provide clear, timely communication.
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with ISO 9001 requirements and Quality standards.
  • Identify recurring engineering and manufacturing issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior management.
