Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing business based in Ballymena area to recruit an Assistant Technical Manager to join their established technical team. As the successful candidate you will lead the Quality Assurance team on site, ensure that daily routines delivered by the team comply with all relevant Manufacturing Standards, legislation and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the practical application of the sites Quality Management systems
  • Accountable for the quality assurance and compliance functions of the site meeting company, legislative, customer and 3rd party accreditation body standards.
  • Participate in site HACCP, Integrity, Allergen and Internal audit programs
  • Coaching of operations, engineering and QA teams to drive food safety culture
  • Lead site technical audits and visits, ensuring the factory is always audit ready
  • Ensuring all factory specs / QAS are in place and being followed
  • Drive continuous improvement within the site, continually pushing the food safety and quality standards
  • Ensuring that complaints, internal non-conformances and audit related non-conformances are completed in a timely, yet thorough manner
  • Deputise for the Technical Manager in their absence

What you will need to succeed:

  • Formal qualification in food science / food technology or related subject, minimum HNC, ideally degree level.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing requirements in line with BRC and retailer COPs
  • Ability to lead, engage and influence change and compliance to deliver BRC AA+ and Tesco TFS 4 and above
  • Strong knowledge of food safety in a chilled manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of microbiology.
  • Minimum Level 3 Food Safety and HACCP qualifications.
