Vickerstock are recruiting for a proactive Assistant Accountant to support the day-to-day finance operations within a dynamic FMCG business. Working as part of a larger group, this role offers excellent exposure to core accounting processes and the chance to build strong, practical experience.
Salary: Industry competitive
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am - 4:30pm, Friday 8am to 3:30pm (39 hours per week) - a degree of flexibility will be required to suit business needs

Your day to day:
- Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for assisting with and completing the following duties:
- Play a key role in producing monthly management accounts, bringing the numbers to life through meaningful variance analysis
- Support group reporting and gain exposure to intercompany processes and reconciliations
- Take ownership of balance sheet and bank reconciliations (including multi-currency), ensuring accuracy across the board
- Provide payroll cover and broaden your experience across finance operations
- Get involved in budgeting and forecasting, contributing to forward-looking financial planning
- Partner with operational teams to understand manufacturing performance and cost drivers
- Support the smooth running of accounts payable, receivable, and cash management activities
- Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments as part of the month-end process
- Assist with audit preparation and help maintain strong financial controls and compliance
What you will need:
- A solid educational foundation, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Currently studying towards, or keen to begin, a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
- A genuine interest in building a long-term career in finance, ideally within a fast-paced FMCG environment
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to take ownership of your work
- A keen eye for detail, with strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Naturally analytical, with the ability to investigate and solve problems
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, with exposure to accounting or ERP systems being an advantage
